Program Activities

The Food Program has the following objectives: 
  1. Dissemination of appropriate food technologies through workshops, promotion activities, publications, and training.
  2. Assisting in feasibility studies and establishment of viable income generation micro- enterprise food businesses by providing advice and technical expertise.
  3. Promoting the importance of food safety and nutrition.
  4. Increasing food security through agro-food processing and preservation of locally grown produce.
  5. Supporting locally produced food products and contributing to import reduction. 

Training Modules

Past and present projects of the Food Processing Program include: 

The training modules cover more than 20 food products tailored to suit the needs of participants, including popular food products such as Peanut butter and peanut products, economical baking, fruit juices and jams, crispy chips, and others. Additionally, the program offers soap making, including medicinal products, detergents, and other products.
